25 Years of Nuu-Chah-Nulth
Faces, Places and Culture
Photographs by Bob “Suds” Soderlund
September 21,2007 to January 26, 2008
A unique view of the past 25 years of Nuu Chah Nulth culture is presented through an exhibit of photographs published in the Ha Shilth Sa and from the personal collection of past photographer and editor, Bob Soderland. Engaging images, with many familiar faces, places and events, lead us through the themes of Culture, Elders, Politics, Sports and Fishing. This 25 year retrospective is an important record of cultural history and political change.
The exhibit is curated by Dawn Foxcroft and Kelly Poirier, both members of the Tseshaht First Nation. For them the photographs on exhibit speak to events they experienced as children and are now, as adults, able to reflect
upon and recognize as telling the important story of cultural change. The exhibit is financially supported by: The City of Port Alberni, the Nuu-Chah-Nulth Tribal Council, First Peoples' Heritage, Language and Culture Council and the BC Arts Council.
